How to Cleanse

Purposeful cleansing is a way to heal and realign your body and mind. Whether you're in need of a serious lifestyle change or simply need a wellness boost, it starts with our fuel - It starts with food.

It's important to transition both in and out of your cleanse experience, also known as Pre-Cleansing and Post-Cleansing. Check out our quick tips and download our complete cleanse guide to ensure you get the most from your investment.

While realigning, you'll gradually prepare your body for a juice fast. At least 48 hours before your juice cleanse start date, slowly remove processed foods, animal products, caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol.

We know... It may feel like a bit much giving all that up, but trust us here. If you go from a big night out directly into cleanse mode, it's going to hurt. Equally, go cold turkey on a coffee or sugar habit, that will not be pleasant, either. Ease into this transition. Wellness doesn't rush.

During this step, we recommend setting intentions for the goals of your cleanse. What would you like to get out of it? What action are you willing to put behind your desires?

Be clear with your intention. Affirmations such as, "I will use this cleanse as a means to bring more mindfulness to the foods I consume. I want to notice how I feel when I eat healthy foods so I can conquer my sweet tooth cravings. After my cleanse is complete, I will reach for fruit when I crave something sweet." When you get clear about what you want, you'll choose actions that support it - sometimes whether you notice or not. ;)

We have three different cleanse types: Gentle, Standard, and Greens. After scheduling the program that is right for you, it's time to cleanse and flush your body with nutrient powerhouses.

You will receive six 16oz bottles of juice per day that will clear out your digestive system, eliminate toxins and boost brainpower. During the cleanse you will learn your true 'eating cues' - Are you actually hungry, is this a boredom craving or is your body thirsty?

Our cleanses were formulated with benefits and nutrition in mind. Drink the juices in the order they are listed in your cleanse instructions, every two to three hours. Sip slowly and savor each flavor. Bonus - you are getting 12-18 pounds of local produce to supply your body with clean, real energy every day of your cleanse.

Cleansing affects every body differently. Some people feel lethargic and experience “brain fog” while others experience a surge in energy & mental clarity right away. Both experiences, and everything in between, are normal. Symptoms like headaches, fatigue, dizziness, bad breath, irritability and irregular bowel movements are a sign that your detoxifying cleanse is working but can be eased by resting, taking a bath, breathing deeply and drinking water or herbal tea.

If your cleanse is particularly challenging, listen to your body and make adjustments as needed. Adding another juice or nut milk, making your cleanse ‘cushy’ with Superfood Bites + Dr’s Orders Raw Soup or supplementing your cleanse with a handful of raw nuts or veggies may help.

During your 48 hours post cleansing, slowly re-adapt to solid foods (and reap in the nutrients your body has now been reminded to truly hunger for), focusing on fresh, whole plant-based foods. If you're an omnivore, you may slowly bring back your dietary preferences one category, one meal at a time. Your digestive system has just been on vacation and may need a couple of hours to reintegrate itself!

With your clean slate, introduce plant-based nutrition into your daily choices and establish lasting health-centric habits. We've included a meal plan to make this process easier! Eating intentionally and choosing whole foods is a lifestyle and we're all learning together. We're here for you every step of the way.

Commonly Asked Questions

Is cleansing a quick fix?

No matter how hard you try, there's no such thing as a "quick fix" in the nutrition world. Small, yet consistent shifts in your daily habits are the most important influence in long-term results. If you begin a cleanse with the mindset that it will "make up" for days/weeks/months/years of less-than-healthy habits, you might be disappointed. Instead, cleansing is an opportunity to kickstart healthier habits that can help us feel our best in the long term.

Can I drink coffee or wine while cleansing?

We know you may not like this, but we really don't recommend it. Part of the goal with cleansing is to take a break from these ingestible influences! If you feel a little uneasy about this, we invite you to take a pause and ask yourself why. Worried about a caffeine headache? Slowly taper off your coffee habits and switch to tea leading up to the cleanse. In love with the ritual/routine? We get it! Swap your daily joe for herbal tea and replace wine with a relaxation-inducing cup of cacao.

Can I exercise while cleansing?

Light exercise can be a great cleanse compliment to keep things moving. Due to the restriction of calories while cleansing, se suggest trading your high-intensity cardio or weight training programs for a light walk or yoga.

Can I work while cleansing? What if I'm really busy?

The short answer? Yes, but be mindful. If you prepare properly, you should be able to go about your normal routine. We recommend scheduling your cleanse at a time that you can listen to your body's needs and follow through. Your busiest week of the year is not the ideal time to cleanse. We recommend first-time cleansers to start their cleanse on a Friday. You'll sail through day 1, hit the "rougher" days at home and be all done come Monday.

Do I need to drink the juices in the order they are listed?

  • Our cleanses have been formulated to keep your body nutritionally full, metabolism revved up and blood sugar levels stable. We recommend drinking your juices in the order they are listed on the bottles, approximately every two to three hours. If you find yourself overwhelmingly full or are really craving some almond milk mid-morning, listen to your body! Think of our cleanse guide as a set of suggestions, not a strict regimen.

What if I get hungry while cleansing? How hard is this going to be?

Cleansing affects every body differently. Some people feel lethargic and experience “brain fog” while others experience a surge in energy & mental clarity right away. Both experiences, and everything in between, are normal. Symptoms like headaches, fatigue, dizziness, bad breath, irritability and irregular bowel movements are a sign that your detoxifying cleanse is working but can be eased by resting, taking a bath, breathing deeply and drinking water or herbal tea.
